Congratulations to Springfield Director and Chartered Financial Planner, Vanessa Townshend, who celebrates 15 years at Springfield Financial Services this month, and also to our administrator, Jill Darwen, who celebrates 10 years!
Vanessa graduated from Liverpool John Moores University with a degree in International Business Studies with Japanese. She then joined a National IFA in 1998, before moving to a London based stockbroker. In 2005, Vanessa relocated to Preston and joined Springfield Financial Services where she is now a shareholding Director.
Chartered Financial Planner providing Retirement and Later Life advice
Vanessa specialises in providing Retirement and Later Life advice. Incorporating retirement planning, pension transfers, investment management and estate planning. Her expertise was recognised at the Personal Finance Society Adviser Awards in 2018 when she won the ‘Later Life and Retirement Specialist’ award, and in 2016 and 2017 as a finalist. Vanessa has also been a finalist in two categories of the 2019 Women in Finance awards.
Vanessa has held Chartered Status since 2007, is a Fellow of the Personal Finance Society, and holds the Society of Later Life Advice (SOLLA) accreditation. She is a pension transfer specialist with expertise in all types of pension rules and regulations. This includes occupational pension schemes, private pension, final salary pension transfers and pensions on divorce. She has also completed the Foundation Certificate with the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners’ (STEP). This includes Trusts, Wills and administration of estates.
Vanessa is married with two children and together they enjoy swimming, cycling and running. Vanessa regularly competes in Triathlons, cycle Time Trials and open water swimming events. Her biggest accomplishment to date representing Team GB in the Standard Distance Triathlon European Championships in June 2019.
